LTdL 2023 - STAGE INTRODUCTION

Stage 1 is a mostly flat stage, with some rolling sections along the way. The stage’s relatively long distance over winding and shady roads means that breakaways are likely, as the favourites pace themselves, but the more inland route spares riders from potential strong coastal winds. The day’s climbs are relatively short but does have some steep sections, although this will not deter the sprinters in the peloton. In the end, the flatness of the last 50km of the stage makes a bunch sprint at the finish equally likely. A tricky entry via the Kuala Terengganu Drawbridge should see a fast and high-speed finish at Dataran Shahbandar.
