Cyclists from all walks of life were given the rare opportunity to experience what it is like to race like the pros in the inaugural Domestique by Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi today (Sept 28).
Hundreds of amateur riders took part in the Domestique event which featured a 97.5 kilometre course that was almost exactly the same as the one that will be used in tomorrow’s first stage of Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi.
Riders were able to test their skills along a challenging course which highlighted the beautiful scenery on the mystical island of Langkawi.
Participants enjoyed the same level of support in Domestique as the pro riders as the course was managed by the same marshals and safety teams that oversee the Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi race.
Water stations were also spaced out accordingly to ensure that all riders taking part in Domestique remained adequately hydrated throughout the event.
The Domestique event featured eight different age categories for men and women and offered a prize pool of RM31,700.
Winners were also given the opportunity to receive their prizes on the official Petronas Le Tour de Langkawi podium, just like the pros!
